Welcome to Agate Hunter!

Our mission is to:

Connect as many agate hunter enthusiasts together as possible via the web!

Many of you love prospecting and hunting for agates, rocks and crystals of all kinds. We, Fred and I, at Agate Hunter, want to extend a warm welcome to our agate/rock/mineral collecting community.

All of us love the outdoors and wish to share our treasures with each other as a wonderful way to forget our worries and to look for the good things in life.

This website will focus on creating an agate community with stories and photos of great finds, as well as current history as to the origin and development of agates, especially dwelling on the creation of fairburn and lake superior agates. In addition, we will work with rock show developers to keep a current list of shows and their locations, as well as dates and times for exhibitors and visitors.

Lake superior as well as other agate types will be added as an enhancement to the content of the site, as the site develops.

I, Jennie, am a confirmed ebay nut, I have to check each week to see what awesome fairburn agates are for sale, and yes, this is a expensive habit at times, but one that I love. My fairburn collection is large, with many prime specimens collected over the last several years. Please see the fairburn and lake superior agate pages for additional photos of our collections.

We will be creating a newsletter, to keep rock hounds, agate hunters, crystal keepers and rock lovers informed as to the latest developments in new areas to hunt as well as what is new in "rock lovers news". If you want to be added to the newsletter list, please send a request to the email address: fairburnhunter@aol.com.

You will see lots of interesting characters on this site, and you are welcome to send photos and interesting tidbits of information on your agate finds!

Please feel free to join our community. We welcome fellow agate, mineral, crystal and rock hunters and hope that you enjoy our site. We hope that this website can be used as a means to extend our friendships with you and with others that have been "bitten by the agate/rockhound/mineral collector bug"!

Fred, Agate Hunter Expert!

Fred is pictured with his favorite "ole Bonnie" which rolled over 200,000 miles in the summer of 2003. Fred and Bonnie spent many miles traveling the western states in the last couple years...

Fred's agate hunting partner is me, Jennie, I guess I can understand why he always beats me with finding the best fairburns, and lake superior agates... It MUST  be his hat, at least I feel better if I think this way... Rather than he is a better prospector than I am!

Fred and I, have been agate hunters as well as fossil hunters for years. Fred has found not only fairburns in South Dakota, but also, stone tools which are his favorite, many which are fairburns as well as prairie agates. Please see the pages for stone tools, and he will illustrate how you can tell if your special find was really an artifact and worth so much more!

We love the badlands and would welcome stories about your great finds, as well as photos to boot!
We request the right to edit stories and submissions to limit concerns with privacy.
